Part of the walk of faith is the idea that as time passes; we grow in Christ and get to know him more as our Lord and Savior. As we mature in faith, we come to the understanding that it is by his strength that we are empowered to live the Holy life that we are called to live. What an encouragement that God has and will provide all that is needed to live a victorious life as we seek his righteous. It is his promise that he shall give us all that we need in order to do what he has commanded us to do. What a bummer it would be to be given a job to do without having the tools or know-how to do what has been asked of us. It’s like changing a tire without a jack or lug wrench or making a sandwich without bread. In the case of following the Lord and growing in Christ, everything we would ever need has been given to us by God’s hands. 2 Peter 1:3-8 affirms this very understanding of what the Lord provides as he seeks to build us up in faith as we grow in him.His divine power has given us everything we need for a god y life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; a d to knowledge, self-control; and to self control, pers verance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure; they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some people look to ‘wing it’ in life and hope that everything will work out to some degree of success. Others will resort to ‘so-called’ experts with their ‘How To’ books and programs; while still more will live under the delusion that they have all the answers themselves. The biggest problem I see to these approaches is that we have one life that has been given to us. Why wouldn’t we trust our loving God who is looking out for our best interest as our heavenly Father? It is hard to fathom the idea of placing your life in the hands of something other than God, who has a proven record of success. So the next time when life brings a challenge to your doorstep, look to the God for the answer. Through prayer, His Word and His Church, you will be able to find all you need to be successful in our walk wit Christ as we grow in him.
