A Gift That Words Cannot Describe

I’m sure we can think of a time when we received a gift that seemed so fantastic that it totally blew us away. I remember when I was kid, I always wanted the latest and newest bike that was the center of all the rave. I would move from the basic bike to enjoying a bike with gears. Then came the mountain bike and then on to the BMX series. By the time I was turning 12, or so, I was ready for a performance bike. It was like the cycling bikes they raced in the Olympics and the Tour de France race.

Though I had my eye on such a bike, I knew that they were very expensive. It would likely be an improbability that my parents would spend such a large amount of money, knowing what my history was with caring for my bikes. This is why I always wanted a new bike; the old ones were simply abused and mistreated. Still, I would desire such a bike. I felt that I was getting older and I could take care of an expensive bike if I had the chance.

Then, on my 13th birthday, I was surprised when I received a new, Mark Eight, 20-speed touring bicycle as a gift from my parents. It was white, with the US Cycling logo on the front and it was loaded with all the gadgets that made it very special. It had a headlight that was powered by the bike’s momentum. It also came with a speed odometer and mileage counter. It was equipped with a water bottle holder and it even had a small saddle bag mounted on the rear of the seat.

I was so blown away by receiving such a tremendous gift that all I remember saying was, “WOW”! I was so happy that I just smiled from ear to ear for the next several days. I suppose that many other people have similar stories about getting such a special gift and how it made an impact on their lives; however, there is one special gift that I feel many of us have received that has made the greatest impact on our lives and it has changed us forever. 2 Corinthians 9:15 says;

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”

Imagine a gift too wonderful for words to describe. That is the gift that God gives to each of us. God’s Gift of Love that he gives to each of us is one that we will hold as the most precious and meaningful gift of all. The gift of Jesus Christ is the only present that gives us ‘New Life’ and will last forever. It doesn’t get old, it never wears out, and it is the most useful gift we could ever have. Furthermore, it is a gift that’s for everyone. Though some people may place this gift aside, out of sight, or store it away, it will never lose its worth and will always be available when people are ready to use it. If I can encourage people of anything, I want it to be this: The gift of Jesus is the greatest gift you can ever receive and the sooner you open it, the sooner you will be able to enjoy a life full of abundance and blessings.
