“REVIVE US, O LORD; Breathe creative, new life within us all”
This is a prayer God would greatly desire to answer for any group of His people. We so appreciate Rob McCorkle’s preaching and teaching that occurred recently when he was with us in revival. Join me in prayer that it will burn more brightly in us as we increasingly absorb it.
The first night, he was speaking our of Acts 2:1,2. Verse two says, and SUDDENLY – when they were all with one accord and in one place….And if you were there Monday, he said that you cannot have the “suddenly’s” without the “continually’s.” He was saying, the New Covenant points to the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. And that the church of today should be far beyond the ‘birthed’ church in Acts. It says they were all filled….. means so filled the container could not hold what’s in it. What comes out of us when we are shaken is the stuff we are stuffed with. In looking at how God marvelously used Peter, WE have the same Spirit that was in Peter. In John 14:12, Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I DO, he will do also; and greater works then these he will do because I go to My Father.”(Also see 14:26) Jesus came, among other things to show us what we can be….what we can do in the power of the Holy Spirit. He asks us to lay down our life for Him, so He can use us in this way.
The second night, Rob spoke about how to walk in the physical realm and stay (mind and spirit) focused on Jesus. To be able to walk on planet earth and life from the spirit world.
He spoke from Acts 16:22 about Paul and Silas being in prison and letting that prison become a chamber room where you meet God. When we are persecuted, we are to start worshipping and praising God. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks…….
Other people watch how you respond to your “prisons.” There is great power in the Word. (Mt. 13:31) Why isn’t everyone healed? Ans. “I don’t know.” We do know that Jesus healed 39x in scripture and never once did he NOT accomplish His mission. We must learn to persevere until we hit the bullseye. If you keep your focus on the spirit realm, breakthrough WILL come.
The last night, Rob spoke about developing a sustained culture of revival. Romans 12:11, Paul says “never be lacking in zeal.” Normal Christianity is flowing in the Spirit. How do we sustain a culture of revival. The first thing is simple, but not well-practiced: We need to be a House of Prayer. Prayer is the fire of the stove. Before the service, create an atmosphere of prayer, where people can spontaneously cry out to God. In the New Testament, we see corporate prayer. Acts 4 tells us “they raised their voices together.” The cries of desperate, hungry people will result in His manifest Presence. (John 14:21)
Secondly, steward what you have for increase. (Mt. 25/ Lk 19) Jesus has given us a ‘download;’ He wants us to steward what He’s given us. Look at Joseph or Daniel’s life. They had to steward what they were given until they received the increase. How do you steward your life? By serving God faithfully in the situation you are in right now. Stewarding the small things will prepare you for greater things. It’s the same with tithing; generosity is a matter of the heart, NOT the wallet. Third: Walk in the Spirit. (Gal. 5:25) This means to stay in alignment or agreement with the Spirit. Numbers 11 you will read that God wanted to take the spirit on Moses and transfer that to 70 other people. And in 11:29, it says: Would to God that ALL GOD’S PEOPLE would be prophets. “I will put My Spirit on you, and I will put My words in YOUR mouth. (Is. 59:21) These are two Old Testament passages referring to the Holy Spirit resting on God’s people and they would speak prophetically. All of US can hear God speak, and we can tell others what He is saying.
In Hebrews 4:12 it speaks of God’s word being sharper than a two-edged sword. Literally, it means sharper than two mouths. The first mouth: “We hear it.” The second is our mouth: We speak it.” The gift every believer should be chasing is the gift of prophecy. Prophecy edifies, exhorts, and comforts. When Rob goes out to the store, He goes to release God’s Presence. When we go out into the public square, we can go out to minister. If we follow the Spirit, when Sunday comes, we will be celebrating what He’s been doing through the week.
“Lord, teach us what it is to walk in the Spirit and let You flow through us to others. Amen.”
