Only the Tomb is Left Empty

Scripture: Passage: Mark 16:16
“He is risen; He is not here: behold the place where they laid Him.”
The major crises in the life and ministry of Jesus clearly reveal that only the tomb was left empty.
1.At one time there was an empty throne. When Christ was born, there was an empty throne at the right hand of the Father. Jesus abdicated this throne to inhabit a human body.
2.At one time, there was an empty cup. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was presented a cup that was filled with the dregs of sin’s shame and disgrace. He drank the contents until the cup was emptied.
3.At one time, there was a filled tomb. On crucifixion Friday, the body of Jesus was removed from the Cross and placed in a tomb.
4.Now there is an empty tomb. On Easter morning the rock that sealed the grave rolled away. The mighty Conqueror of death, hell, and the grave was alive forevermore.
5.Now the cup is refilled. The cup that Jesus emptied in the Garden is now filled with love and blessing and mercy and grace. He places the cup to our lips and says, “Drink ye all of it.”
6.Now the throne is refilled. After His ascension Jesus returned to the right hand of the Father, where He “ever lives to make intercession for us.”

Only one place has been left empty – the tomb.

“Father, with a filled cup and an occupied throne You have provided everything necessary to make our lives complete, satisfying, and rewarding. Thank You. Amen.”
